foreign teacher’s teaching quality assurance
as to standardize the foreign teachers’ teaching and assessment for the students, the following requirements should be followed:
teaching plan form:
1.the teachers should have an overall plan for the teaching content and schedule for each semester, and fill the “teaching plan” form according to your overall plan, hand in to the english department in two weeks after the semester begins.
2.during semester, if there is a week for holiday, should fill in “self-study” instead of “holiday”.
3.if you teach more than two classes for the same level, the teaching procedure should almost be the same.
4.during the middle term teaching quality assessment, the university and the english department will check your teaching procedure according to your plan. if there is huge inconsistency between your teaching and the teaching plan form, we would require you explain the reason. if it’s not reasonable, you should improve it and we will supervise.
in-class teaching:
5.the teachers need to check the attendance of the students and keep the records. the students who absent more than 1/3 of the class time can not attend the final exam.
6.the teachers should prepare the teaching carefully, should have notes and detailed teaching plan which should includes main teaching content, teaching aim, teaching methodology etc. the teaching plan should hand in to the english department in two weeks after semester begins.
7.the teachers should also prepare the detailed teaching plan for oral english class to illustrate the teaching method, procedure, topic, grammar and so on.
8.the teachers should be serious about the class teaching. teaching should be in order, focus on the main point, inspiration, interaction with students, practical and clear.
9.the teachers should be punctual, do not increase or omit the teaching hours, do not omit or change classes without permission. if you do need to ask for sick leave or have something important to do, you need to make it up and turn your application to the english department or dean’s office.
10.the teachers should assign homework according to the course you teach and mark it seriously and carefully and keep the records.
11.the administrators from the english department or university will observe the foreign teachers’ class occasionally so that to ensure the teaching quality.
12.at the middle of the term, the english department will hold a meeting for the foreign teachers, listen to your advise, requirements, etc and also for you to exchange your teaching experiences.
assessments:
test questions overall requirements: the questions should be consistent to the syllabus and should be the reflection of the basic requirements of this course.
paper- test
a.design of the test paper
a.follow the identical pattern required by our university.
b.questions should be pithy, clear, diverse, neither too difficult nor too easy.
c.two versions of the test paper of merely the same level are required. and also the keys are required. the amount of the questions should be consistent to the exam time.
d.the total score for the test paper should be 100.
e.the same test paper and same marking standard should be used for the same level of the students for the same course.
f.the two versions of the test paper should be sent to the english department two weeks before the exam date.
b.marking of the test paper
a.scores should according to the keys.
b.use the red pen to mark the paper, point out the mistakes and mark the score deducted. for example, -5.
c.fill in the test result form. 60 is pass. for over 60, use black or blue pen, below 60, use red pen. attendance, course work etc. counts as 30% of the finial result, final exam counts as 70%.
d.marking and the test result form should be finished in 3 working days after the exam and hand in to the english department.
oral test
a.the oral test such as for oral english course should also design a test scheme which should include the following aspect:
a.test method and the test content: illustrate method, procedure, topic, assignment or role play in detail.
b.marking standard: to illustrate a detailed marking standard, list out the grading item such as the language expression, logicality, body gesture.
b.fill in the identical form with the test scheme, hand it in to the english department two weeks before the exam date.
c.fill in the test result form
a.oral english course should have the scores of their everyday performance according to their attendance, performance in class, participating of the discussion etc.
b.attendance, course work etc. counts as 30% of the finial result, final exam counts as 70%.
c.60 is pass. for over 60, use black or blue pen, below 60, use red pen.
d.test result form should be finished in 3 working days after the exam and hand in to the english department.
